Local Information;
The Stables is located in the gardens of our home, Albion House, which is on Sutton Road, Hannah - a small hamlet between
Alford and Sutton-on-Sea - the road is the A1111. Our postcode is LN13 9QL (On a sat nav this will take you a few yards
North of us to the centre point of the hamlet).
Alford has a few takeaways, several pubs and a couple of
restaurants. There is a selection of shops including bakers, post office, green grocers, butcher, newsagent, Lloyds
and Barclays Banks and chemists (pharmacy). Thursday is half day. Following the A1111 from Alford towards Hannah you
will pass through Bilsby, which has a Petrol Station including a Spar store and Post Office.
In the other direction, continuing past The Stables after about 2 miles you reach Sutton-on-Sea. This small quiet seaside
town has a Post Office, Spar, chemist (pharmacy), grocers, newsagents, butchers and several petrol stations. After another
few miles on the same road you reach Mablethorpe which has a better range of shops and facilities. Both Sutton and
Mablethorpe have a number of places to eat, many of which also do takeaway. You will find leaflets and menus from some
establishments in The Stables. Mablethorpe also has a cinema.
Public transport is provided by the Monday to Saturday daytime Route 96/A. Buses stop on request in the village
(we will show you where to wait) The route starts in Splisby passing through many small villages to Alford and then on
via Hannah to Sutton-on-Sea and Mablethorpe. Spilsby is a connecting point for services from Lincoln, Boston and Skegness.
It is a pleasant town with a good selection of shops. At Sutton-on-Sea Route 96/A connects with a service from Skegness
through Sutton and Mablethorpe to Louth. Skegness being the nearest railway station. Louth is the district's main town
and here you will find a wide selection of shops, many being local businesses.
The bus is useful if you are looking to spend a car-free day on the beach at Sutton or Mablethorpe, the return fares seem quite
reasonable and the service is reliable.
If you stick with the car there are normally spaces available in most car parks, although charges can vary.
Away from the towns there are some lovely quiet beaches where parking is cheaper or free. We can point these out to you
on the map when you get here.
There is a lot more information about places to visit on our web site as well as leaflets for many in The Stables and if
you need help or advice on any aspect of your holiday please feel free to ask.
Local Views;
At the centre of the hamlet of Hannah is the parish church of St. Andrew. Its well worth
taking a look inside as it is one of the very few churches left retaining box pews. Services are held here 3rd Sunday
of each month at 3pm, with a carol service in December.
