Lincolnshire Transport Museums
The Trolleybus Museum, Sandtoft
Is the home of the worlds largest collection of preserved trolleybuses and has regular
open weekends thoroughout the season. The museum is located on the Isle of Axholme near junction 2 of the M180.

Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum
The home of the Lincolnshire Vintage Vehicle Society and their collection of over
65 cars, commercial vehicles & buses. They have major open days & rallies on Easter Sunday and on the first Sunday in
November. They also hold a vehicle rally in the grounds of Lincoln Castle in June.
The museum in Whisby Road, North Hykeham is open Sunday afternoons in the Winter and six days a week in Summer
(Closed Saturday's). Full details are on their web site.

Heckington Station Railway Museum.
Located between Sleaford and Boston in the original Victorian Station buildings.
A wide range of railwayana is displayed in the former General Waiting Room and Ticket Office. Open from Easter to the
end of September on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from noon to 5pm.

Immingham Museum.
Located in the Resource Centre, Margaret Street, Immingham. The main theme of the museum is the part played by the Great
Central Railway in the building of the docks and the development of the local rail network. Open Monday to Friday 1pm
to 4pm with mornings and Saturdays by prior arrangement.

Model Railways
Gainsborough Model Railway.
Located in an old Victorian School this hand built ‘O’ Gauge model of the East Coast
Main Line from Kings Cross to Leeds covers 2,500 sq ft and has over 1,200 ft of track. Open on selected dates
through the year.

Monks Bay Model Railway.
A new ‘O’ Gauge model railway layout with a Cornish theme and located in Mablethorpe.

Other Railway Locations
Lincoln Railway Society.
The Lincoln Railway Society was formed in 1979 and caters for the interests of all rail enthusiasts,
both young and not so young! They have a varied programme of talks and lectures, most of which are illustrated with
slides, photographs and even video. Meetings take place at St Hugh's Church Hall, North Hykeham, Lincoln on the 2nd
Monday of each month at 8pm and are open to non members.

Lincoln Railway Society
Ex-Railway Buildings, now private property.
There are also lots of former railway buildings in Lincolnshire, that although now privately owned and not open to the
public, many have been restored to 'railway condition'. Here are just a few locations; In Louth the station building
and signal box; Station buildings in Wragby, Burgh le Marsh, Alford and Sutterton. In Sutton-on-Sea there are even three
houses made from early railway carriages.

Railtours.
During the year a number of railtours visit the county, these being a mix of Preserved Steam, Heritage Diesel or utilising
current locomotives or rolling stock that is rarely seen here.

(Tours solely passing through Lincolnshire on the East Coast Main Line are not included, only those booked to leave the mainline being listed.)
Other places to visit
On Your Marques, model car museum.
Located in the village of Mumby on the A52 between Skegness and Mablethorpe.
On Your Marques has attractive display cabinets of model cars, old and new. There is a large Scalextric track and refreshments
are also available. Opening hours vary through the year and are detailed on their web site.

Lincolnshire Steam & Vintage Rally.
Held annually in August and attracting around 1500 exhibits ranging from vintage
steam Showman's engines, cars, vans, buses & trucks; fairground organs and rides; stationary engines; models and dioramas;
market stalls, etc, etc. Its a full day to get around everything, but if you get talking you might need to go back on Sunday
as well.

Toy & Train Collectors Fairs.
At both the Lincolnshire Showground and Springfields Exhibition Centre in Spalding there are regular fairs organised by
J & J Fairs Ltd. Both venues have 200 tables with a wide variety of collectable toy and train models on sale.
